Accessibility Information
We want every guest to have clear and accurate information when deciding whether The Lodge Burniston will meet their individual access needs.
The Lodge does not currently have step-free access and may not be suitable for all wheelchair users or guests with significantly reduced mobility. Please contact us before booking if you have specific requirements. We will be happy to answer questions, provide additional measurements or photographs and consider reasonable adjustments wherever possible.
Entrance and layout
The Lodge is a detached, single-storey cabin.
There are two standard-sized steps up to the main entrance; no ramp is currently available.
All rooms and facilities are on one level once inside.
Doorways throughout the cabin are at least 73 cm wide.
Flooring consists of laminate, with loose area rugs in some rooms.
Photographs showing the interior and general layout are available throughout our website.
Parking and outdoor areas
Private on-site parking is available a few metres from the entrance.
The parking area has a gravel surface.
The path to The Lodge includes brick paving.
The deck is on the same level as the entrance.
The French doors leading between the cabin and deck have a threshold of approximately 2 cm.
Outdoor surfaces may be uneven or become slippery during poor weather.
Bedroom
The narrowest space around the bed is approximately 60 cm.
Bathroom
The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a 2 cm raised threshold.
The shower controls cannot be reached from outside the shower.
Fixed grab rails and a shower seat are not currently provided.
The toilet is a standard-height toilet rather than a raised accessible toilet.
Kitchen and dining area
Kitchen worktops are approximately 90 cm high.
The dining area has a kitchen peninsula with high stools.
The stools can be removed before arrival to create additional space if requested.
Outdoor bath
The outdoor bath is positioned at ground level.
It is reached across gravel and stepping stones.
This route may not be suitable for wheelchair users or guests with significantly reduced mobility.
Assistance dogs
Recognised assistance dogs are welcome at The Lodge at no additional charge.
Please let us know before arrival if you will be bringing an assistance dog so that we can prepare appropriately and discuss anything you may need during your stay.
Individual requirements and reasonable adjustments
Accessibility needs vary from person to person. We will consider reasonable adjustments wherever possible, including removing loose rugs or dining stools and providing additional information before you book.
Please contact us if you would like to discuss:
Entrance access;
Doorway or furniture clearances;
Bedroom, bathroom or shower access;
Parking and outdoor surfaces;
Assistance dogs;
Visual, hearing, mobility or other access requirements; or
A reasonable adjustment that could make your stay more comfortable.
We encourage guests to contact us before booking if they are uncertain whether the layout or facilities will meet their needs.
