Scarborough Open Air Theatre // Where to stay
Coming to Scarborough for a gig?
Scarborough Open Air Theatre is one of the best things about summer on the Yorkshire Coast, with huge names playing beside North Bay from June through August.
And if you’d rather turn the concert into a couple of nights away than head straight home afterwards, The Lodge is just up the coast in Burniston.
Summer concert nights at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, beside North Bay.
Live music, summer nights + one of the best outdoor venues on the Yorkshire Coast.
An evening under the lights at Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
From The Lodge //
Scarborough Open Air Theatre sits beside North Bay, south of Burniston.
From The Lodge, it’s around 10 minutes by car or taxi, making Burniston a brilliant place to stay for a concert without having to stay in the centre of Scarborough.
Taxi // We recommend pre-booking taxis for concert nights, particularly for the journey back, as they can get very busy when the show finishes.
Bus // The X93/X94 runs through Burniston towards Scarborough, with a stop just a short walk from The Lodge. Always check the latest timetable before travelling, particularly for the return journey.

Make a weekend of it //
A concert doesn't have to mean arriving in Scarborough, seeing the show and driving home.
Come up earlier. Walk along North Bay, head up towards Scarborough Castle, have dinner before the concert and spend the evening at the Open Air Theatre.
Then escape Scarborough afterwards and come back to your own little cabin in Burniston.
No hotel corridors. No town-centre breakfast rush.
Just coffee among the trees the next morning.
Stay at The Lodge //
The Lodge is a hand-built cabin for two on the northern edge of Scarborough, surrounded by trees and perfectly positioned between the Yorkshire Coast and North York Moors.
You'll have:
King-sized bed //
Percale bed linen + blackout blinds.
Outdoor bath //
A cast-iron roll-top bath tucked away outside.
Private deck //
Your own space among the trees.
Kitchen //
For slow breakfasts and coffee before heading home.
Parking //
Private parking directly at The Lodge.
And because you're staying in Burniston rather than Scarborough itself, you're perfectly placed to explore further up the coast the following day.
The morning after // slow coffee back at The Lodge.
Ten minutes up the coast, back among the trees.
A slower morning on the deck before heading home.
The morning after //
This is where staying here really wins.
Instead of heading straight home, walk a section of the Cleveland Way from Burniston, follow the Cinder Track, head north towards Hayburn Wyke, or spend the day exploring Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.
Concert one night. Yorkshire Coast the next morning.
That's a pretty good weekend.
